We don't have a lot of time....on Alla Prima days. I come in late, mess around- chat a lot...generally have fun....because I LOVE this class and the teacher. Anyway, I am not making excuses, just sayin'--- these paintings are small for a reason.....

What a wonderful model. I love my art friends and the situation- it is extraordinary.

The light in the kitchen is very cool and softened some of the skin tones from what it appears in person. This is Foreshortened nude oil on linen 18x24. One more week until complete.

Monday, April 8, 2013

ahhhh, I am finished with this painting. It feels good. I hope she likes it. I sure am gonna miss these two.

Thursday, April 4, 2013

This is 18x24" oil  on oil primed board. Day one of three week pose. Very foreshortened stick I drew- last one to set up.....not much of a choice for beautiful poses. But with this model, it's hard not to get a good view.

Monday, March 11, 2013

It is difficult to get a good picture of this painting because of the glare. So I shot this sideways. I would say I have about 6 more hours on it. Hand, arms, feet and a little work on her face. Very close to being finished. Will post the final when I am.

                                                              Getting close to being done.

This is the beginning of Madison. She is one of my very favorite models. Something of her bone structure says "classicism" to me. I can see her translated in a draped gown into some Grecian or Romanesque mythical goddess. yep, that is what I see in her.

When I talk to her, her eyes dart with intelligence. She is bright and shiny but yet she is still at the same time.  I think she is the bomb.

Let's see if I can pull this off over the next few weeks.

I might do a little more work on this if I get a chance. So much to tend to in this picture. Lots of textures and patterns. Very complex. Cleve was a good model.

I grew up seeing a big painting of my four cousins painted in the early 1960's by Austrian
Artist Anton Vorauer. His style influenced me from the get go ( I mean really early, like say birth)
. Here  is a detail/sneak peek of  the Twins. A commission portrait underway.  Oil on linen
